Here’s the Best Places to Get Pampered on the Emerald Coast

October 16, 2019 by Kevin Schmidt

If you need a fully restorative and relaxing break, you don’t need to spend months in Italy or try to challenge yourself with impossible hiking trails. Instead, head to these spas right on the Emerald Coast of Florida. You can spend your days along the Gulf at some of the country’s best spas, where you’ll find unmatched views, luxury beaches and pampering like you wouldn’t believe.

Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

After you arrive at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, walk through their pedestrian village and shop in the best boutique shops in the States. Casual dining, fine dining, and best of all, complete massage and pampering treatments await you there. Start out with a traditional deep tissue massage and then finish off your day with manicures, facials and more. According to BirchBox, choosing the right spa treatment is pretty important. When you’re working on setting a good standard for relaxation, make sure you consider massages that won’t hurt too much or leave you too sore the next day. If you’re going for a facial, make sure that the treatment is compatible with your type of skin.

Thai Massage by Bee

Anyone vacationing in Destin needs to book some time here. The atmosphere is unmatched, and it’s perfect for couples who are trying to destress together. According to Chirp, people who regularly experience stress and anxiety are more likely to experience myofascial pain and tight, stiff muscles. A myofascial release can help curb the result of long-term stress and leave you feeling completely restored. Thai massage is the go-to for anyone who holds a lot of tension in their muscles. However, many people don’t realize that they keep tenseness in their faces as well as their shoulders and lower back.

Spa at the Henderson

A unique spa experience is spent right on the beach. The Henderson is a well-known luxury spa that offers everything from water sports to opportunities to just lean back. You need to book an appointment with the Salamander Spa inside The Henderson. Private treatment rooms are available as well as couples’ rooms. Each person has the opportunity to experience facials that tone, firm and hydrate skin there.

Caviar facials present a different approach to hydration. Naturally, caviar is protein-rich and full of omega-3 fatty acids. According to Skin Inc., the result is outright defiance of the aging process. A caviar facial offers intensive repair and firming for tired and relaxed tissue.

ELEOS in Destin

Destin is a hot spot for restorative massage and spa treatments. There’s little more that you could ask for in life than an aptly named chocolate massage. A chocolate massage uses cocoa butter, sea salts and more to relieve stress and rejuvenate the skin. This bucket-list item is something that is a complete experience; it’s an exceptional massage, and it leaves you feeling incredible.

When planning a vacation, seek out the hidden gems along the Emerald Coast. The green waters, white beaches and amazing year-round weather can give you a much-needed boost. When you set yourself up with a few days of pampering, you’ll finish your vacation feeling ready to dominate life and take on the world.

Grocery Delivery and Pickup Services Are Changing How Americans Run Errands

October 8, 2019 by Kevin Schmidt

Gone are the days, or so it will be in the near future, where we have to fight the traffic and risk getting into an automobile accident just to get to the grocery store and find the food that sustains us! Thanks to a few key technological advancements in cars and other vehicles, both grocery delivery and pickup services have become increasingly popular without signs of stopping. Let’s explore the main technologies involved, who’s providing these services, and who has shown interest in them so far.

Grocery Delivery Has Become Massively Popular

Already, nearly half of all grocery shoppers buy online according to a recent study published by the renowned KPMG International corporation. Despite the 52 percent who did not admit to buying online, it was also found in the same survey that 59 percent of respondents have the desire to buy groceries online at some point in the next year. This comes a markedly drastic difference than a decade earlier, where such a level of concierge never existed. Now there is no need to even wait in lines or waste time walking around and browsing for the perfect product; It makes so much sense to let a professional who is familiar with the store find the items that you would like in half of the time.

Current Delivery Technologies

As it stands, driverless cars and drones are the two technologies that are currently being rolled out to the public. Though driverless cars have been one of the most trending topics of discussion on social media, drones are the latest technology that has been starting to amaze customers from coast to coast. Drone pioneer company Flytrex has already been successfully delivering groceries in Iceland for the past two years straight, as a matter of fact! In America, retailers like Amazon are already rolling out delivery of goods by drone; self-driving cars are improving their algorithms more and more with each passing year.

What Can We Expect in the Future?

The 1960s are to the space race as the 2020s will be to the delivery service race. We’re already seeing signs of China’s most popular online companies delivering items by drone, and the same can be said in America as well. As self-driving cars integrate onto our roadways, they are likely to take the place of delivery drivers as the process becomes more automated. At the rate we’re currently going, it seems that we can expect full drone delivery and the autonomous car delivery of grocery goods within the next ten years. Whether by car or drone, it seems as it will likely depend on how the weather holds up since Mother Nature is one thing that will likely hold relatively constant as time goes on.

Thanks to the influx of technology in recent years, the growing interest in both grocery pickup services and technology-based grocery delivery services has increased dramatically. A new wave is underway from sea to shining sea, and thankfully it doesn’t seem too far away.

Here at Be My Shopper, we want to make grocery shopping easier and more convenient for you. Try our grocery delivery service today!

Don’t Have a Car? How to Comfortably Get Your Groceries Home

August 27, 2019 by Kevin Schmidt

When you don’t have a car, even the simplest chores can be difficult to complete. One of them is definitely the task of bringing home groceries. The good news is that even without a car, you have a few alternate options for getting your groceries home safely. Here are just a few of them.

Use A Rolling Cart or Suitcase

Especially if you already have one handy, taking a rolling cart or suitcase with you to the grocery store can be a huge help. Just make sure the cart or suitcase is large enough to hold whatever you intend to buy. Rolling carts are especially convenient because you won’t have to strain your arms getting a heavy load of groceries home. This is one alternative for when you can’t just hop in the car and drive back and forth at will.

Use A Bike Trailer

If you tend to ride your bike to the grocery store anyway, it can be a great idea to purchase a bike trailer to hook to the back of it. While these trailers are great, the last thing you want to do is overload yours. This means making more frequent trips to the grocery store, but safety comes first. Also, take into consideration that if you do attach a trailer to your bike you will need to navigate the roads carefully. In many states, cyclists have the exact same right to roadways as automobiles. Of course, cyclists are also subject to the same traffic laws, so remember to wear a helmet.

Get Them Delivered to You

At the end of the day, often the easiest way to get your groceries home safely is to simply have them delivered to your home. With Be My Shopper, you can order groceries to be delivered to your home with just a few clicks of your mouse. There are so many benefits to having your groceries delivered. First off, it helps you cut down on impulse spending, and that saves money. It also frees you up to spend more time doing what you love.

Though getting food might seem like a challenge when you don’t have a car, it’s very doable. If you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to ask people for rides to the grocery store all the time, solutions like the ones above may work best for you.

3 Things to Research When Planning a Road Trip

July 22, 2019 by Kevin Schmidt

Temperatures are warming up and many families are hitting the road for the annual summer road trip. Before you take off on your road adventure, it is important to have a plan put in place to guide your journey. Here are three important things to research when planning a road trip.

Weather

Just because it is your vacation, you should not just assume that you will have picture-perfect weather the entire trip. Planning for a myriad of weather conditions will ensure that you are prepared for anything that Mother Nature may throw your way. For example, if your travels will be taking you over mountain passes, it is important to be prepared for cold or snow, even during the warmer months of the year. If you are traveling through the Midwest during tornado season, be sure to educate yourself about the potential dangers of this weather system. One option is to learn how to drive in different types of weather conditions so that you are prepared for whatever weather comes your way. Another option is to choose your vehicle wisely. Avis explains that certain vehicles are better at handling snow or rough terrain than others. If you are planning to rent a car, then ask the rental agency for advice on what type of car is best for the local area.

Distracted Driving Laws

As the dangers of smartphone use while driving becomes more apparent, more and more states are enacting legislation to reduce accidents. According to Boohoff Law, in Washington, drivers can receive a citation if any part of their body touches any part of their phone, necessitating that the drivers only engage in hands free calling. Before you hit the road, be sure to research the various distracted driving laws in the states on your itinerary. Ignorance of the laws will not be a good enough excuse if you happen to get pulled over. Putting somebody else in charge of all navigation and smartphone use will help the driver to avoid the temptation of reaching for the phone.

Basic Lodging Options

While part of the benefits of a road trip is the spontaneity that it encourages, it is also important to have a basic framework in place to guide your adventure. One of the things that you will want to research is the lodging options available to you on your route. The last thing that you want is to get stuck in the middle of nowhere in the dark without a place to sleep. Having a few options set in place before you take off will help to ensure that you are not left without a place to rest. When you have a particular destination in mind, booking your lodging early on can help save you money. Park Savers explains that some theme parks and attractions partner with hotels to provide discounted rates, so it’s worth exploring these options if know you will be staying in a particular location.

Half of the fun of any road trip is the planning! It’s important to plan carefully so that you can get the most out of your trip. With the right research and planning, you can ensure a great trip as you cultivate memories that will last your family a lifetime.

July 3, 2019 by Kevin Schmidt

Beach enthusiasts are always looking for a new stretch of sand to explore. From the intoxicating scent of the salty ocean air to the feel of the waves gently lapping at your feet, it is easy to fall in love with a beach vacation. Here are three beaches that need to be on your travel bucket list.

Boulders Beach, South Africa

There is no shortage of amazing beaches in Cape Town, South Africa. But Boulders Beach offers up something unique that no other place on earth can lay claim to. According to Capetown Travel, this picture-perfect beach is home to a large colony of thousands of native African penguins. The granite boulders that surround the beach work to protect it from the wind and large waves of the ocean. This makes it a great beach for families looking for safe waters for children to play. While the penguins can be viewed from the boardwalk all year long, they are most active during the summer months. There is a nominal conservation fee charged to access the beach.

Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta

According to Vallarta Adventures, Las Caletas is one of the top four private beaches in the world. Nestled deep in the Sierra Madre Mountains, it is only accessible by boat. This secluded paradise is an ideal place to connect with Mother Nature. This private beach boasts a myriad of tropical wildlife viewing opportunities, the chance to snorkel in pristine waters, or simply just relax in a hammock between swaying palm trees. There are a variety of tours that you can book to visit this oasis, allowing you to customize your experience.

Henderson Beach State Park, Florida

Located near Destin on the Emerald Coast of Florida’s panhandle, this charming beach park is a protected strip of land just waiting to be explored. Avis explains that the area is known for its stunning white sand beaches and unique wildlife, which makes it the perfect place to get out and explore. The beach is surrounded by 30-foot-tall sand dunes protecting the sandy shores. The grounds open at 8 a.m. every day and remain in operation until sundown. Or you can choose to immerse yourself in this tranquil oasis by reserving one of the 60 campsites. With so much to see and do at this beach park, you will want to stay awhile.

Offering a unique experience at every turn, each of these three beach destinations offers something different. Now is the time to sink your toes into the sand and inhale that glorious ocean air.

Thinking of a Long Vacation in the Emerald Coast? Read This First!

April 30, 2019 by Kevin Schmidt

When you’ll be on vacation for a while in the Emerald Coast, you need to prepare your house so that you don’t come to an unwelcome surprise when you come back. When you go on an extended vacation, there are several steps that you should take to ensure that your house is cared for, that you aren’t inviting unwanted guests, and that you come back to a clean house. When you make plans for your home a few days or even a week before you leave, you’ll have everything in place for an inviting return after your vacation.

Automate Your Bills

If you’re going on vacation for several weeks or a few months, your mind will rest much easier if you already know that your bills will be paid. Go Banking Rates explains, have your mortgage, utilities, cable, and any other bill that needs to be paid while you’re away set up on automatic pay, and take the time to do some other financial planning, such as talking to your bank about your upcoming trip. You’ll feel a lot more comfortable knowing that you don’t have to worry about harming your credit or getting a letter from your mortgage company in the mail.

Clean Out Your Home

You won’t enjoy coming home to a messy house, and that includes a refrigerator full of spoiled food. Moving Company Reviews recommends making an inventoried list of all items that will go bad while you’re away, and make meals using only those items. If you plan it out carefully, you’ll be able to use up your opened and perishable goods without wasting any of them. After all, you don’t want to be wasteful, and you don’t want a smelly or dirty house greeting you after a vacation.

Secure Your House

When you’ll be away for an extended period of time, you want to ensure that you’re not inviting burglars who look for houses that seem vacant. There are several strategies that you can use to ensure that you’re not making your house a target. First of all, if you’ll be gone for a few months, have your mail forwarded. Otherwise, you can have a neighbor or a family member pick it up for you. Your Local Security suggests hiring someone to house sit every so often so your home looks active or like there are people still living in it.  If you live in an area that receives snow, make sure that you have someone clearing it away. These are a couple of signals to a potential robber that there’s no one currently living there to defend the home and the property.

Vacationing can be a lot of fun, but that’s only true if you’re comfortable that your house is safe. There are numerous things that you should do before you leave for vacation, so make a list at least a few weeks before leaving for the Emerald Coast so that you have plenty of time to complete the tasks that will let you fully enjoy your vacation.

How to Eat Well While on Vacation

March 7, 2019 by Kevin Schmidt

Eating healthy doesn’t only help you look good, it also provides the body with necessary vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Eating better might support a leaner physique, which also comes with health benefits. Eating right, however, becomes tough when on vacation or traveling. These three steps could help you stay on the right dietary track – and they’re not tough ones to follow.

Avoid Eating Out Every Day

One reason why people eat better at home is because they can prepare everything in their kitchen. Vacationers find themselves ordering and eating out all the time for the apparent reason that they aren’t home. Hotels and motels don’t always come with a kitchen. Grocery stores, however, can provide excellent hot and cold meals at the deli counter that are as close to home-cooked as possible. Grocery store shopping presents a better plan than eating out at the local fast food chain. And if you’re too busy sightseeing to go grocery shopping (or you’re not sure where to go), try a grocery delivery service.

Perhaps you could even think about booking accommodations that come with a kitchen. Online booking sites make it much easier to locate rentals with all sorts of accommodations. Kitchens — or kitchen access — could be among them.

Create a Diet Plan for the Vacation

Eating right becomes harder when you don’t have a plan in place. Ending up in a new location without a plan means you find yourself ordering food from the closest establishments. Those eateries might not be the best ones from a health perspective. Don’t allow yourself to land in such a position. Craft a smart diet plan before leaving.

Be smart. Avoid processed foods, and make sure to eat the right amount at meals. A good strategy involves eating leaner selections such as poultry and fish. Don’t go too heavy on carbohydrates if you aren’t going to be too active. Be sure to incorporate plenty of dark leafy greens and other vegetables as well.

Map Out All the Shopping Spots

Scores of travel websites provide information on places to shop and eat. Find out what the nearest healthy eating spots and wholesome grocery stores are. A few top ones could be right near your hotel. Why miss out on visiting these places because you didn’t know they were right around the corner? Also, by figuring out what places are nearby, you’ll be better positioned to come up with a diet plan. After all, you’ll know what food you can buy to put the diet together.

Eating healthy on the road or while on vacation seems tough at first. But by making a plan ahead of time and exercising self-control, you can enjoy your vacation without blowing your diet.
